Ground Cover
I have been documenting the living arrangements of a rough sleeper in an East London park for two years now. The project began with the discovery of a snow covered backpack left beneath a tree. I have since returned regularly to record the site’s development, abandonment and then slow return to nature.
The series is closely linked to the River Lea project, it is shot in the same area and touches on similar themes. The piles of clothing have a sculptural quality and remind me of the debris strewn along the river bank just a few metres away. More notably they seem incongruous located in such a public space and imply underlying social welfare issues.
This is an edited selection from the final series
